The Bookworm
The Bookworm
@ the Conover Library Literacy Garden, NC
2025 - present
The Bookworm is a response to a national Request for Proposals I competed for and was awarded to create a functional artistic seating bench for the children at the Conover Library newly constructed Literacy Garden in Conover, NC. It is made from up-cycled propane tanks and caps from BLT Tanks in Kingfisher, OK, and 2, 30” diameter stainless steel pipe bends from a Billings, MT refinery yard.
After delivering the raw materials to Conover from my home in MD, I worked with local fabricators Sam & Elizabeth Steffey to cut and weld the pieces, and painted it for the finished look you see here.
Thanks to Project Manage Kaitlyn Lindler and the City of Conover Public Works Dept. for facilitating the installation!
