Unselected proposals

In this line of work, and really, in most creative careers like performing arts, music, writing, etc, rejection is inevitable. For a public sculptor, you submit your portfolio & resume, write a letter of interest, and hope for the best. You cannot take it personally, and you never give up.

It would be safe to say that of the 275-300 Request for Qualifications, and Request for Proposals that I respond to each year, only 10% or so actually evolve into a selected assignment, either temporary display or permanent commission.

It seems a shame that these proposals are never seen, beyond the committee of judges and stakeholders that requested them in the first place. So this section is in honor of all those lost concepts and ideas that may never become a reality.
